Edgar Allan Poe

Hello!!

This is a tribute to Edgar Allan Poe, for the spanish digital magazine Imaginarios, to illustrate an article about his life and poetry.

I have tried to evocate the essence of his dramatic and peculiar point of view about the pain, love and emptiness of life, all surrounded by the darkness of his verses and the veil of his romantic madness.

Black crows and cats, a mirror that reflects the portrait of Poe, focusing on the Other Side of Nevermore. A graveyard, and the bottle of cognac and the three black roses that have been placed during the last 60 years on his tombstone.

Imaginarios #3, March 2010: http://imaginarios.es/presentacion/

About 50 hours, Photoshop CS3, Wacom Graphire4, an a lot of references for the gravestones, cat and crows, mirror, Poe´s portrait and so on.

Thank you very much for visiting!! I hope you enjoyed it!! Comments and critics are very welcome!!

Now that some of my projects have ended, I have more spare time for drawing for myself. This time I found the inspiration in a girl from the Basque Country. She is a fashion designer, and I felt in love with one of her costumes and make ups.

Then imagination came to me, and I saw her as an evil marionnette, full of blood, devils eyes, threatening pose, and a black cat following the dark path..

Zoe, thanks a lot for your inspiration.

Tysora - Black Age Online Goddess

Tysora Goddess, developed for the MMORPG "Blackageonline" videogame: (http://www.blackageonline.com)

"Crunching petals around the Goddess appear when her dreadful arcane presence makes explode such fragile life structures"..

"Tysora, mistress of the Energy and Black Magic wanders around, bewitching the storm, transforming light into darkness, melting dawn and sunset together in a perpetual, cold and dark night… Dreaded and venerated by mortals, but also loved by the terrible promise of power in her doctrine enclosed, in her worship manifested… few are not those who sell their souls to approach their consciousness to Tysora's secrets, Mother of the Black Magic… few are not those who get lost on the magnetism her eyes irradiate, forever trapped in the abyss of her lethal look.

Goddess of elements, of shadows wandering on the edges of planes, her beatiful shape makes mortals' mood shake: her hair smells like blackberry and her breasts taste like musk. Her elixir is the energy and her desire the unleashed power of the perpetual night that implodes at dawn, letting a myriad of particles sprinkling the path with darkness, on her back, the track is forever cursed… in the distance, the Goddess walks his way with her crook and book of Agnerion, where all the Goddess' arcane wisdom is constantly recorded… century after century… for all the eternity.

Be afraid, mortals… in these times to come, Tysora we'll look for a gap that will allow her to come in to our world again…

… and when he gets here, the last thing we'll do is perceive her beauty and dreadful presence melting our essence, taking our souls from the bodies to weave her dark spells.

We adore you, Tysora.

...The Hunt of the Lamia...

Hi!

Here is a Lamia running away from her hunters, scaping through the forest, frightened, bleeding, wounded with two arrows on her back. She is a Basque/Greek mythological female, a nymph-like creature joined to the Mother Earth, half women half beast, a fantastic treasure to be hunted.

I found the inspiration in a photograph of an awesome american model, miss-mosh, and I borrowed her photo as reference for my drawing: http://miss-mosh.deviantart.com/art/El-Mirage-104538966. Thank you very much for your permission and kind words!

The forest in the background is based on the knowledge of another great artist, nathie, following his tutorials and workflows. Thanks a lot for your wisdom!

This is another drawing taken back from the past. It was only a pencil sketch five years ago, but I always wished to bring it alive. So, there was a lot of poor versions I left behind along these years, until this final concept grew in my mind.

Painted in Photoshop with wacom graphire4. Hundreds of layers, brushes, masks, and hundreds of working hours too.

A Fire Witch, a Fire Nymph... Don´t trust in her burning innocent eyes!

Comments and critics are very welcome!! Thanx a lot!

P.D: As always, I used a lot of references to find the right composition: friends posing, girls, models, anatomy books, magazines, landscapes photographs and the imagination cap. xD
I tried to make something different from my nymphs and fairies. Therefore, instead of beauty, I meant to transmit a psychological impact, a shocking moment of desperation.

That is! A very young pregnant girl in front of the mirror, thoughtful, holding strongly the knife ready to stab herself and the baby she carries inside.

More than 60 hours and 30 layers in Photoshop. The mirror and the background are made in 3Dstudio!

The concept idea is based on Lilia, another beautiful friend, although she is not pregnant! Thanx a lot!!!
